Day : 9 Saturday 03-jul-1999
At WBCCI International
Wright Patterson Air Force Base
Dayton, Ohio
We took it easy getting up this morning. Today the club had organized an outing to King's Island in Cincinatti. That is the next big town over from Dayton. King's Island is a big amusement park, where about 1/3 is a water park. We were going to the water park. About 60+ kids had signed up. There were some parents too, including Pam and Chuck Bleakney. The club had rented three big buses. It took us about 1 hour to get to there. The weather was just super nice. We had a great time. As the day went on, the place filled up and the lines got longer for the various rides. By about 3:30 we rounded up the kids and went back to the buses. It felt like just the right amount of time to stay out, given the strong sun. We got a chance to try most rides. On our way home, we got to ride in an air conditioned bus. Lillemor and Per took a nap. We asked the kids to do the same, which they off course did not do. By the time we got home to the trailer they were very tired. Surprise!

While some trailer units had started to leave a few days ago, the gaping holes in the rows were more noticeable now. We guess some wanted to spend 4th of July home or had to go back to work on Tuesday or Wednesday. So far, our isle was pretty full. By now the mud had really dried up on the field where we're parked. And some of it is also stuck on our truck! I am hoping we'll see some rain on our way down southwest, to wash that off.
We went out for dinner in the evening. We went to the local Chilli's restaurant, at about 8pm in the evening. It about in the mid 80s outside (30C) and inside the restaurant it was ice cold. We almost started to shiver. Had a few cocktails at our trailer with our neighbors, when we got back. Went to bed late.
