Day 14 -- Orlando, Florida

Excursion: Outside of Disney World area
Today we slept a bit longer than usual. We were all a bit tired. We got up after 8am and ate breakfast outside. The birds we saw 7 years ago around the campground came around to our site. They are actually ducks. Although we had planned to, perhaps, visit a theme part today we decided to take it a bit easy and instead use the day to check out where things are, etc.
Ready for breakfast at Fort Wilderness
I went over to the reception area of the campground and checked out the modem connection, which worked just fine. Someone I met in the lobby mentioned that he spent about 30 minutes to get connected to AOL, apparently because he needed to use area code even for a local phone number. Being used to how things work in Compaq's ZKO facility, I was not surprised (e.g., you can only dial some local phone numbers without area code). I also checked things out with tickets to Disney's parks. They have all sorts of packages, but the Hopper packages appear to be best because multi-day tickets do not expire. It is really unfortunate, btw, that we forgot the three multi-day tickets we bought seven years ago at home; they are still good. Also learned that child tickets are automatically upgraded to adult tickets (without a fee). We decided to buy a new batch of multi-day tickets as we plan to come back here again some day. The kids are older now so they appreciate some of the more complicated theme parks better, compared to last time.
Ducks coming to visit us at our campsite
We ate lunch at the trailer. A bit later we headed out to collect information about Orlando and to get some items bought from Wal-Mart and Camping World. Better not buy gas at Disney's Exxon station; they charge $1.48 for a gallon of regular while the stations a few miles outside of Disney charge below $1.35 for the same gas!! Picked up some brochures from tourist information at the Civic center; not worth a visit by itself. Tried to collect some information from Sea World but we got directed in on their huge parking lot and then got "lost" back out on main street again.
Important "landmarks" around Fort Wilderness..
