Day 12 -- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Monday 7/9/2001
We tried to set the alarm for a bit earlier than yesterday just to start getting used to get up for the long ride tomorrow down to Florida. Lilly went out an did a morning run while I worked a bit on the lap top. By about 7:40am Vincent showed up with his car and the kids. They had already packed everything, including tents. They are leaving for their big southwest trip this morning.
I had to shout at the kids a few times before they got going. Lilly had made sure the Tooth fairy came by to pay Karl for his tooth. Only detail with this visit was that the Tooth fairy did not take the tooth with her when she left! Karl immediate commented that he should leave it under his pillow one more night in case the Tooth fairy would pay him again. We set the table and ate breakfast with Vincent. Vincent had gotten some cereal the other day for breakfast and we opened the box this morning. It had one little dinky toy in it and Vincent quickly regretted not having read the fine print on it because the kids started fighting over it. Karl eventually got it, much to moans from the other kids.
Just before 9am we started to clear the table, etc, so that Vincent could leave. We lined up the kids and took a few pictures of them before it was time for Vincent to pull out.

We waved good-bye to Vincent and his kids and then thought about what we'd do for the rest of the day. The weather was very nice and we decided to take advantage of the beach one last day. I went down with Erik to check out Captain Dick's by Murrel's Inlet, but they did not have any trips for Monday that we could go on, except a 6 hour deep-sea fishing trip. We drove back and stopped at the fish marked near the start of the road to Murrel's Inlet and bought a few different bits of fish: dark tuna, sword fish, salmon and a few giant shrimps. That would be nice for dinner!
We went down multiple times to both the beach and the pool. It was very nice. Lilly and I read some books in the shade under an umbrella. We cooked dinner on the BBQ. The fish requires less heat than the meat. It was good. As we were wrapping up, Karl's friend from a site next door showed up and we thought it would be appropriate to take a picture of him and Karl.
